A cupcake too far A backlash has quashed a Google Maps test feature that showed how many calories people could burn on a trip if they walked instead of drove, using pink cartoon mini-cupcakes to help illustrate the calorie savings. Although many said it could help promote a healthier lifestyle, others were outraged, according to TechCrunch. Some claimed the feature could be a trigger for the estimated 30 million Americans with eating disorders, pointing out that compulsive calorie counting is a warning sign of some disorders such as anorexia. Others said the feature, which apparently could not be turned off, made them feel unfairly judged or shamed.
