Giants scratch Brandon Belt with wrist sprain

The latest word from sickbay is first baseman Brandon Belt was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a sprained left wrist, caused by a check swing Saturday. Belt left the clubhouse Saturday night with the wrist wrapped and was in manager Bruce Bochy’s original lineup Sunday. While Bochy was meeting with beat writers in the dugout an hour and a half before first pitch, trainer Dave Groeschner called him aside with the news Belt wouldn’t play. Belt has a team-high 16 homers and is hitting .382 in his past nine games, but he’s a .244 hitter on the season. Saturday, Johnny Cueto was placed on the disabled list with blister issues. Bumgarner threw 102 pitches in seven innings Saturday and gave up three runs on a pair of homers.
