Uber appeals arbitration ruling in Waymo case

Waymo alleges that Uber and its subsidiary Otto used crucial autonomous-car technology stolen by a former key Waymo engineer. In a ruling last week, U.S. District Judge William Alsup said that Uber and Waymo do not have an arbitration agreement, so the case should go before a jury in open court. In another ruling released Monday, Alsup barred Levandowski from working on the specific technology at issue, while refusing Waymo’s request for a temporary injunction to stop Uber’s work on self-driving technology.
