The U.S. government is temporarily barring passengers on nonstop U.S.-bound flights from eight Middle Eastern and North African countries from bringing laptops, iPads, cameras and some other electronics in carry-on luggage starting Tuesday. The ban was revealed Monday in statements from Royal Jordanian Airlines and the official news agency of Saudi Arabia. The justices let stand a lower-court ruling that refused to dismiss charges including conspiracy, bribery and fraud against the Democratic lawmaker. Menendez was indicted in 2015 after prosecutors said he took official action on behalf of a longtime friend who had given him gifts and campaign donations including flights aboard a luxury jet and a Paris vacation. President Trump met with Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates at the White House on Monday, just days after releasing a budget proposal that would impose deep cuts on funding for many of the causes championed by the billionaire philanthropist. Gates, who wrote an article saying cuts to foreign aid Trump proposed would make America “less safe,” didn’t speak to reporters afterward. Hundreds of residents were allowed to return to their homes in the foothills just outside Bolder Colo. on Monday as firefighters make progress against a wildfire possibly sparked by transient campers in the area.
